PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Villanova softball team fell 6-2 to Providence Saturday at Glay Field.
The 'Cats (11-37, 5-15 BIG EAST) scored twice in the final two innings of the contest, but came up short in a comeback.
Kat Gallant (L, 2-10) started for VU, pitching four innings, striking out one, walking one and giving up two earned runs on four hits.
The Friars (25-14, 14-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the three after two scoreless innings.
Providence scored two more in the fifth to make it 5-0.
The final two innings saw the 'Cats outscore Providence 2-1, scoring their first run of the game on a

Jaclyn Morra.
The Friar scored their last run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Grace Reed hit her fifth home run of the season in the top of the seventh, her second long ball in three games to bring the game to its final score.
