VILLANOVA, Pa. — The Villanova softball team lost 4-1 Saturday to Seton Hall at the VU Softball Complex.
The 'Cats (9-33, 5-12 BIG EAST) were shutout in back-to-back games in BIG EAST play for the first time since April 26-27, 2014 versus DePaul.
Maggie King (L, 2-5) got the start for Villanova, pitching five innings, striking out two, walking one and giving up three runs on six hits.
The Pirates (15-23, 5-13) struck first, scoring three runs in the third inning on a home run off King.
Against
Sophia Mount, who came on in relief, Seton Hall scored the final run of the game, a solo shot in the sixth inning.
Madison Ostrowski broke up Karissa Dupuis' (W, 4-6) no-hit bid in the sixth inning after a hard-hit single to right.
The 'Cats got two aboard on a
Lilly St. Jean single and
Jaclyn Morra double, but both were left stranded.
