VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova women's lacrosse takes on No. 2 Stanford on Saturday, March 28. First draw is set for 12 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
Villanova earned a 14-8 win over conference opponent Xavier on Saturday. Mary Moore recorded a career-high five assists, while Leslie Iorio netted a career-high five goals. Rose Christie added a hat trick, and Villanova controlled the draw, 16-7, behind 11 from Emma Verhoest.
Stanford suffered its first loss of the season Thursday night, falling 13-11 on the road to No. 17/15 Boston College.
This will mark just the second meeting between the two programs. In last season's matchup on March 1, the Wildcats narrowly fell 14-13 on the road. Villanova led in draw controls with 16, behind nine from Verhoest. Elena Torres and Iorio each tallied four goals, while Jillian Vaught and Ashlyn Hickey added two assists apiece.
The matchup against the Cardinal marks the Wildcats' third game against a ranked opponent this season, joining previous contests against Navy and Stony Brook.
Verhoest also needs just two draw controls to set a new program record. The junior has recorded 381 in her career, one shy of tying the current mark of 382 held by Caroline Curnal (2020-23). Verhoest leads the team with 103 draw controls this season and also set a single-game program record with 19 in the Wildcats' matchup against Vermont on March 6.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available on StatBroadcast.
