NEW YORK -- For the fourth straight week, multiple Wildcats picked up weekly honors from the BIG EAST Conference as
Jake Melchionni repeated as the Specialist of the Week while
Luke Raymond picked up his second weekly honor roll of the year.
Melchionni earned back-to-back top specialist honors after another impressive outing, reaching a new career high with 10 ground balls at Delaware. The New Jersey native added his first goal of the year, also causing a turnover to provide an all-around effort for the 'Cats. VU's top LSM is the BIG EAST leader in ground balls and caused turnovers per game.
Raymond is on the honor roll after he contributed a team-high four points against Delaware on three goals and an assist. The attackman added three ground balls for the Wildcats as he continued his streak of multi-point outings, scoring two or more goals in each game so far. The graduate student is Villanova's leading scorer by five points (13, second most is 8) after bumping down to attack for his final collegiate season.
Melchionni, Raymond and the Wildcats have their first midweek game of the season on Tuesday afternoon, heading downtown to take on the Drexel Dragons at 4:00 p.m. from Vidas Field.
