No.15 Stony Brook defeat the 'Cats

VILLANOVA, PA – Villanova women's lacrosse gets there second lose of the season,12-5, to No. 15 Stony Brook on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Wildcats managed to score five goals, 13 draw controls and 10 saves.
 
Emma Verhoest won nine draw controls and Isabella Henson-Vendrell got three. Amelia Ricciuti had three caused turnovers and Juliet Walls had two.
 
In the first quarter, Stony brook went on a six goal run before Jillian Vaught netted a pass from Sami Carey.  Makenzie Fisher has two saves. The Seawolves then scored , ending the first quarter 7-1.
 
Villanova defense then held Stony Brook to seven shots on goal but only two goals let into the cage. Fisher had four saves sending the 'Cats 9-1 into halftime.
 
Stony Brook scored the first goal of the second half. Lizzy Giordano passed to Madison Freeman who finds the back of the net. Nearing the end of the third quarter, Sydney Pappas gets a pass from Elena Torres as she rips it to the back of the net. Fisher also managed four saves.
 
The game went 2-2 in the fourth quarter. Torres finds Pappas once again helping her score the first goal of this quarter. Torres then gets fouled and earns a free position, she was able to find the back of the net and put the score at 5-10.
 
The Wildcats will hit the road for the first time this season, as they travel to Bucknell on Saturday.
