PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Water Polo was unable to come out on top against RV Marist University in their second game of the day during the Bruno Classic, falling by a score of 16-11.
Emmie Mallory recorded her second hat trick in as many games, finding the back of the net on three penalty shots.
Tiffany Maguire,
Sara Withers, and
Lauren Short also scored multiple times for VU.
Villanova came out and scored early, netting five goals in the first quarter to lead by a score of 5-3. A defensive battle ensued throughout the second quarter with the Wildcats outscoring the Red Foxes 2-1.
Marist ultimately pulled away as the game went on, scoring 10 goals in the second half, to the Wildcats four.
Riley Hull and
Ella Mattocks drew three exclusions each, helping the Wildcats gain multiple advantages in the power play.
Isabel Foley had a fantastic day off the ball in both Saturday games, adding two assists and two steals against the Red Foxes, adding on to her already stellar four assists from the earlier match of the day.
Gracin Kerry notched 10 saves in the contest, while also adding two steals and an assist.

The Wildcats have two more games coming up tomorrow, February 2, against Salem University at 10:00 A.M. and against the home team #23 Brown University at 3:30 P.M.
