VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova (5-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) takes on Xavier (3-9, 0-3 BIG EAST) this Saturday at Villanova Stadium. The Wildcats are looking to move one step closer to clinching a conference tournament berth.
Villanova comes into this matchup after a 16-6 loss at Connecticut last week.
Mary Moore led the way with three points as
Sydney Pappas and
Ashlyn Hickey had two points apiece.
Makenzie Fisher made eight saves in the loss. The 'Cats currently sit in fourth place ahead of Marquette on goal differential. The top four teams advance to the BIG EAST Tournament.
Xavier comes to the Main Line after a 19-7 loss to UConn. It is the programs second season, and they are led by mostly freshman and sophomores. Lola Mancuso leads the Musketeers with 35 goals on the season and local product Machaela Henry took home BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after leading the defense with three caused turnovers against Georgetown.
The sides are equally matched on the draw, both with a .476-win percentage. The Wildcats have the edge in the goal department as the Musketeers are last in the conference, averaging 8.83 goals per game. Xavier is third in the conference in caused turnovers per game with 9.33. Villanova will look to take care of the ball and convert when they can to get a win this weekend.
