VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova (0-1) is set for a Saturday showdown against Bucknell (0-1) at Villanova Stadium. The opening draw is set for 12 p.m, but is subject to change due to incoming weather.
The Wildcats enter this matchup with confidence, nearly completing an improbable comeback against No. 17 USC last week. Jill Batchelor was very impressed with her team's performance and looks forward to taking the field again.
Sydney Pappas picked up where she left off last season scoring five goals in the contest with
Sami Carey and
Sophia Corretjer picking up multiple points. Villanova is receiving votes in this weeks WCLA poll and have never been ranked in the top 25 before. A win would put them one step closer to achieving that feat.
Bucknell comes to Villanova Stadium after falling to No. 18 Penn State 22-8 last week. Allie Boyce racked up three goals for the Bison and three others recorded multiple points in the loss. They were picked to finish ninth out of 10 teams in the deep and competitive Patriot League.
Villanova is 13-5 all-time against Bucknell. The Wildcats claimed a 12-10 victory last season in what was the first meeting between the sides since 2018. Carey and Pappas combined for nine points and will be looking for more of the same this time around.
