HAVERFORD, Pa.—Villanova had a group of 11 runners in action at the Main Line Invitational on Friday evening and graduate student
Jack Fredian (Arlington Heights, Ill.) paced the Wildcats lineup with a time of 19:25.2 over four miles on the Alumni Course at Haverford. Including the runners that were officially part of the Villanova contingent along with three unattached athletes, there were seven Wildcats among the top 10 overall finishers in the field of 136 competitors.
Fredian came in third overall in the race and was followed by sophomore
Cole Walker (Chadds Ford, Pa.) who was fourth with a time of 19:26.1. The five scorers in the Villanova lineup were separated by just 36 seconds at the finish line. Graduate transfer
Evan Addison (Collegeville, Pa.) finished sixth in 19:41.7 in his Wildcats debut, while
Devon Comber (Ambler, Pa.) was seventh in 19:46.2 in his first official collegiate cross country race after two unattached races last season. Junior
Sean Dolan (Pennington, N.J.) rounded out the Villanova top five with an 11
th place overall finish and a time of 20:01.4.
Three more Wildcats tallied top-20 finishes on the day, including senior
Ben Seiple (Westport, Conn.) who came in 14
th with a time of 20:06.3. Junior
Miller Anderson (West Hartford, Conn.) was 16
th in 20:08.7 and graduate student
Henry Myers (Portland, Ore.) placed 18
th with a time of 20:09.8. Myers is a transfer from the University of Chicago who was an undergraduate teammate of current Villanova graduate student
Ryan Cutter (El Sobrante, Calif.), an unattached runner in Friday's race who was the overall runner-up.
Redshirt first year runner
Sean Donoghue (Dublin, Ireland) came in 29
th in Friday's race with a time of 20:45.8, while graduate student
Will Merritt (Smithsburg, Md.) posted a time of 21:11.0 and fifth-year senior
Trevor Potts (Sparta, N.J.) crossed the finish line in 22:23.3. This is the second straight competition to begin the season in which the Wildcats recorded a first place team finish. Earlier in the month Villanova was the team champion at the Lehigh Invitational.
Unattached runner
Marco Langon (Raritan, N.J.) won Friday's four-mile race in 19:13.4 which is the fourth-fastest time ever recorded by a Villanova athlete on the Alumni Course at nearby Haverford. Another first year runner who was unattached in the race was
Jack Tavaglione (Califon, N.J.) who placed 10
th in the field in 19:59.2.
