Women’s Lacrosse to Host No. 9 Denver for Senior Day Saturday

Villanova will honor the team’s nine seniors pregame

On Saturday, the Denver Pioneers will travel to the Main Line for a Saturday afternoon conference matchup. The last home game of the season for Villanova will mark senior day, as Villanova's nine seniors will be honored pregame.

The Wildcats enter the matchup at 4-10 overall and 0-3 in conference, while the nationally ranked Pioneers are 13-1 overall and 3-0 in BIG EAST play. The all-time series has seen Denver win all seven matchups since the 2017 season.

Leading the Villanova offense is senior Caroline Curnal, as the Ridgefield, Connecticut native has scored 33 goals and secured 114 draws on the season. Freshman Sydney Pappas has made an immediate impact in her first season, scoring 28 goals, second most on the team. Against No. 16 UConn the two combined for six of the team's 15 goals. On defense, senior Sydney Frank leads the team with 12 caused turnovers.

For Denver, they enter on a seven-game win streak including their first three conference games. The Pioneer's only loss has come to then No. 1 Boston College in three quarters. Graduate student Bea Behrins leads Denver in points with 63 through 13 games. Her point total also tops all BIG EAST players to this point in the season. Julia Gilbert has been named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week for two consecutive weeks. The junior totaled three goals against No. 20 UConn and five against Georgetown to secure the honors.

Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m., with streaming available on Flo Sports.
