Volleyball Falls to Georgetown in Four Sets

Wildcats will head to Indianapolis for match with Butler

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Villanova volleyball team suffered a loss in conference play on Wednesday, falling to the Georgetown Hoyas in four sets (21-25, 22-25, 25-13, 16-25) at McDonough Arena.

Kiera Booth tied a career-high with 19 kills for Villanova (5-12, 1-4 BIG EAST), while Riley Homer added a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. 

Rose Crist also totaled double-digit terminations with eight, while Andrea Campos additionally notched a double-double with 14 digs and a team-high 22 assists. Elizabeth Feczko led all players with 17 digs and Izzy Plummer paced the 'Cats with three blocks.

Georgetown hopped out to an advantage in the contest right away, going up 8-4 early. Villanova leveled the score at 14-14, but Georgetown kept building three-point leads and moved on to a 25-21 set win.

It was the Hoyas again who got out to a lead in the second, getting to 4-2 and later 13-9. The Wildcats tied the frame nine times, but could not overcome the early deficit and fell in the set 25-22.

VU took the advantage to open the third, leading 4-0 and 8-2 to begin the stanza. The 'Cats dominated in the do-or-die set, picking up a 25-13 win.

Georgetown again led to start the fourth frame, jumping out to leads of 4-0, 8-1 and 11-3. The Hoyas led most of the way, with their biggest lead being 10 before they took the period 25-16 for a match victory.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will now make a trip to Indianapolis, taking on the Butler Bulldogs at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
