PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Senior
Kelly Montesi (Greenwich, Conn.) and graduate
Milly Routledge (North Ascot, U.K.) each won both of their individual swims and were on a winning relay to help lead Villanova to a 133-108 over Rutgers on Monday afternoon at the Rutgers Aquatic Center.
Three Villanova (5-1) swimmers left the meet with two individual wins to their name, those being the veteran duo and
Nicole Welch (Beverly, Mass.). Welch accounted for the first individual win of the day for Villanova with a 10:25.09 showing in the 100 Free. She later added on a win in the 500 free (5:04.79). Montesi won the 200 Back (1:59.13) and 200 IM (2:04.00) while Routledge took the 50 Free (23.68) and 100 Free (51.38). Montesi and Routledge were joined by
Abbey Berloco (Cranbury, N.J.) and
Grace Wielar (Richmond, Va.) in the winning 400 Free Relay squad that finished in 3:28.42.
The Wildcats won eight events in the victory over Rutgers (2-4), five of those in a row to close the meet. All-told, the 'Cats pieced together four 1-2 finishes in the meet, one of those coming in a top-three sweep in the 200 IM. Montesi's win in the 200 IM was followed by
Kaitlin Gravell (Ashton, Md.) touching the wall second with a 2:08.21 time and
Audrey Pastrorek (Savannah, Ga.) in third at 2:09.80.
Gravell and
Perri Stahl (La Grange, Ill.) combined for a 1-2 finish in the 200 Breast, finishing in 2:20.81 and 2:23.18, respectively. Routledge and Stahl brought another in the 50 free with Stahl finishing just over three-tenths of a second behind Routledge at 23.99. Routledge and Berloco were the top tandem in the 100 free with Berloco sitting fourth-tenths of a second off the lead at 51.78.
The trio of Gravell, Pastorek and Berloco all landed third or better in their swims. Gravell and Pastorek were both a part of the 400 Medley Relay with
Elizabeth Bailey (Brookhaven, Ga.) and
Lainey Quinones (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) that finished second in 3:56.58. Pastorek added on a third-place swim in the 200 Breast (2:05.20).
Two 'Cats were in the top-three of the 200 Free, Berloco's second-place time of 1:53.19.
Molly Benson (Kensington, Md.) touched third at 1:54.69.
Villanova had a pair of top-five finishes in the 200 Fly with Bailey touching second (2:05.86) and Benson in fifth (2:10.85).
All Villanova swimmers in the 500 Free landed in the top four, led by Welch's winning time of 5:04.79.
Brenna McLaughlin (Milford, Conn.) finished third in 5:12.68 while Raimondi took fourth in 5:16.33.
Andrea Holtz (Rosemount, Minn.) finished fifth in the 3-meter dive with a 226.30 score and was sixth in the 1-meter with a 228.35.
The 'Cats stay on the road this week as they head to Pittsburgh on Thursday. The meeting with the Panthers starts at 2 p.m. with diving followed by swimming at 4 p.m.
