Drexel Downs Wildcats 17-7

Dragons grabbed the early lead Sunday

Box Score Drexel scored five times in the first seven minutes Sunday afternoon in West Philadelphia and went on to post a 17-7 victory over Villanova in a women's lacrosse matchup.
 
 The Dragons got two goals each from Colleen Grady and Karson Harris and added one more at 23:02 to move out to an early 5-0 lead. The Wildcats countered with a goal from Libby McKenna at 22:40 before the Dragons scored again shortly thereafter to make it 6-1.
 
Olivia Piccirilli got one back for the Wildcats at 20:40. However, Drexel scored the next three goals in a span of just over four minutes to make it 9-2. Brittany Bruno scored for Nova off a feed from Alexa Tsahalis to give Nova its third goal of the day.
 
Yet the Dragons pushed their advantage to 13-3 over the next nine minutes before Bruno tallied her second of the day for the Wildcats with 4:06 to play in the first half. Drexel scored once more to make it 14-4 at halftime.
 
The Wildcats (1-3 overall) got second half goals from Tsahalis – off an assist from Adeline Fischer - McKenna and Piccirilli but it wasn't enough to rally. Drexel went on to post the 17-7 win.
 
Next up for Villanova is a Wednesday matinee vs. La Salle that is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
