Washington, D.C.-After a five-set battle Wednesday afternoon, Georgetown's Volleyball team emerged victorious over the Wildcats.

The Hoyas improve to 6-18 (2-11 BIG EAST) while Villanova drops to 14-11 (6-7 BIG EAST).

Georgetown maintained control throughout the first set against Villanova. Leading 16-12, the Hoyas went on a 4-0 run to lead 20-12. The Wildcats were able to pepper in some points and cut the deficit to 23-20 but Georgetown pulled way with a 25-20 first set win.

In the second set, Villanova was able to counter blows with Georgetown in a back-and-forth affair. Leading 18-16, the Wildcats scored three consecutive points for a 21-16 lead and Kiera Booth cemented the 25-19 set win with a service ace. Booth hammered nine kills throughout the first two sets.

The Hoyas were able to slip past Villanova in the third set thanks to a late 3-0 run to lead 23-17. The lead loomed too large for Villanova in a 25-21 third set win for Georgetown.

Trailing 2-1 in the match, the Wildcats had to respond. Both teams traded points which led to a pivotal part of the set with both teams tied at 21. The Wildcats scored three-straight points to lead 24-21 but Georgetown countered with two points to trail 24-23. A clutch kill from Riley Homer gave the Wildcats a 25-23 fourth set win and forced a fifth set.

Unfortunately, Villanova was unable to replicate the magic from the fourth set. Georgetown got off to a quick 4-0 lead and didn't look back in a 15-11 fifth set win.
