Wildcats Cruise Past Hoyas For Second-Straight Sweep

Villanova's consistent hitting and blocking were the key to the three-set win.

VILLANOVA, Pa.-The Wildcats sustained their hot hitting and blocking up front for all three sets for a three-set sweep over Georgetown. Villanova recorded a .330 attack percentage throughout the entire match and recorded six blocks. Villanova improves to 10-7 (2-3 BIG EAST) while Georgetown drops to 4-12 (0-5 BIG EAST).

The first set was a true back-and-forth contest with 17 tie scores and seven lead changes. Trailing 11-9, Georgetown scored three consecutive points for a 12-11 lead. Both sides continued to trade points until a pivotal moment late in the first set. Trailing 23-22, Villanova went on a 3-0 run powered by kills from Rose Crist and Riley Homer for a 25-23 set win.

The momentum was all Villanova in the second set and the Wildcats never relinquished their lead en route to a 25-13 set win. Homer tallied eight kills and Belle Morgan set up 13 assists.

The Wildcats continued to ride the wave in the third set but Georgetown had a late fight. Trailing 21-13, the Hoyas had a 4-2 stretch but it wasn't enough in a 25-16 loss to the Wildcats.
