Wildcats travel to Annapolis for Matchup with No. 13 Navy

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova (1-1) will travel to Maryland on Saturday for a matchup with No. 13 Navy (2-1).

The Wildcats are coming off a close 13-11 loss on the road to Cornell last Saturday.

In the game, senior attack Katie Comerford had a team-high four goals. She now has eight goals and three assists through the first two games this season for a total of 11 points.

Junior attack Brittany Bruno trails just slightly behind her with eight points off four goals and four assists.

Senior midfielder Grainger Rosati was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week on Monday after recording three assists and one goal at Cornell.

SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN
This season, Navy has already recorded wins over No. 21 Duke and Saint Joseph's.

The team's lone loss came in the season opener when it fell to #8 Virginia in overtime.

The Midshipmen's leading scorer this season is Kelly Larkin, who has 10 goals and 9 assists.

Larkin is the Patriot League Attacker of the Week and the NAAA Athlete of the Week. She is Navy's career leader in assists (170).

In the last matchup between the Wildcats and the Midshipmen last season, Villanova fell to Navy 14-6.

In that game, then-junior Comerford led the team with 2 goals and one assist. The Midshipmen outshot Villanova 31-17 in the matchup.

RECORDING-BREAKING COMERFORD
Senior attack Katie Comerford is now just two points away from breaking Villanova's school record for career points.

Comerford currently has 182 points on 103 goals and 79 assists.

After her third goal at Cornell, Comerford became No. 2 on the list, passing Meghan Doyle who played for the Wildcats from 1996-1999 and had 180 career points.

The school record, held by Shannon O'Neil, who played for the Wildcats from 1994-1997, is 183 points off 99 goals and 84 assists.

Comerford is now one of just eight Wildcats who have scored 100 or more goals in their collegiate career.
