NORFOLK, Va. – Villanova traveled to BIG EAST Conference opponent Old Dominion on Saturday, Apr. 6 where they defeated the Monarchs 17–10 in a hard-fought battle. The Wildcats trailed at the half, but a 12 second half goals brought them out on top.
The contest started off as a back and forth battle where ODU saw a strong showing from leading scorer Glory Johnson who netted in seven goals during the contest. Villanova's goals were evenly distributed throughout the team as four Wildcats recorded individual hat tricks.
Old Dominion dominated the first half offensively and defensively keeping Villanova to just five goals.
The two exchanged goals until the score was tied 3-3 with 21 minutes on the clock.

Katie Comerford and
Kim McDonough scored the first three goals for Villanova.
Johnson of ODU netted in the first three goals for her team and then later scored two more to take a two-point advantage, 5-3. Again, the foes went on to exchange a set of goals.
Grainger Rosati scored her team's fourth and Johnson quickly answered back with her team's sixth. Villanova's last goal of the half came from
Devin Hassinger who received a pass from Comerford who recorded three assists for the contest. With just under three minutes left in the first ODU found the back of the net to give them a 7-5 lead headed into the break.
Trailing at the start of the second half is all the 'Cats needed to fire them through to the end.
In the second half the Wildcats outscored the Monarchs 12-3. Johnson scored two of the last three goals for Old Dominion. Mary K Maloney scored her team's two other goals in the first and Sophia Richie netted one inbetween Johnson's in the second.
Villanova received goals from six Wildcats in the last 30 minutes of play. McDonough capped off her hat trick with the first two goals to bring her team down 8-7. In Nova's 6-0 run, Lynch scored her only goal of the game, Trojan and Comerford were one goal closer to their hat trick and
Maggie Jennings' goal set her team up at an 11-8 advantage.
Richie's goal broke up Villanova's scoring spurt and cut the 'Cats lead to 11-9. Comerford answered back to secure her third goal of the game before Johnson scored ODU's 10
th and final goal.
The Wildcats next scoring run consisted of five goals. Rosati and Trojan scored two goals a minute apart to give their team a 14-10 cushion.
Brittany Bruno then did what she does best and went on a scoring run of her own. With eight minutes remaining in the half, Bruno netted in three goals all within a span of three minutes. The last five and a half of play remained scoreless and Villanova had secured the 17-10 road victory when the horn sound.
Alexa Moro appeared in the net for the first 16 minutes of play where she recorded two saves and allowed six goals. Senior goalkeeper
Olivia Gonsalves saw the remaining 44 minutes where she also recorded two saves though only allowed four goals.
For the contest, Villanova outshot Old Dominion 32-20 and 24-14 in shots on goal. Ground balls and draw controls were near even with Nova leading 19-16 in GB and trailing in DC 15-13. Of the 'Cats 13 draw controls, Hassinger recorded 10, showing her dominance in yet another contest.
Villanova isnow 8-5 overall and 2-0 in BIG EAST Conference play. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 13 for another BIG EAST matchup when they welcome the Georgetown Hoyas on Alumni Day in the Villanova Stadium at 1 p.m.
