PRINCETON, N.J.—Sophomore sprinter
Richie Bush (Lawnside, N.J.) recorded personal best times in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters at the Sam Howell Invitational, and junior
Konrad Bayer (Naperville, Ill.) tallied a personal best in the 400 meter hurdles as Villanova had a successful day of competition. There were 19 athletes in all competing for the Wildcats at Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Bush first ran the 400 meters on Saturday afternoon and crossed the finish line with a time of 49.26. He lowered his previous top time by just over six-tenths of a second and placed eighth in a field of 28 runners. Back on the track later in the day for the 200 meters, Bush came in third in his heat and fourth overall out of 39 runners with a time of 21.75. He narrowly beat his previous top mark of 21.82 which he had run at the Colonial Relays as a freshman last season.
Fellow sophomore
Amir Brock (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J.) also doubled up in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters at the meet. Brock posted times of 22.26 and 49.30, respectively, in his two races. Junior
Ike Osuagwu (Wilmington, Del.) registered a time of 23.13 in the 200 meters, while
Chris Morris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a time of 23.98. Senior
Ville Lampinen (Vantaa, Finland) ran the 400 meters and finished with a time of 49.72.
Graduate transfer
Troy Gallen (Glen Mills, Pa.) was the runner-up out of 12 competitors in the 100 meters, while Morris also ran the 100 meters and recorded a time of 11.56.
Bayer had a strong race in the 400 meter hurdles, as he crossed the finish line in 55.36 and placed seventh in a field of 16 runners. He beat by more than four-tenths of a second the time of 55.78 which had stood as his personal best since the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton two years ago. Senior
Utsav Deshpande (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) also competed in the hurdles and recorded a time of 57.98.
Sophomore middle distance runner
Jacob Bonanotte (Barrington, Ill.) tallied a third place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.66. Fifth-year senior
Zach Swenson (Boulder, Colo.) ran in the seeded section of the 1500 meters and posted a time of 3:52.75, while sophomore
Paul Nichols (Latham, N.Y.) recorded a personal best time of 14:48.51 in the 5000 meters.
The top result for Villanova in the field events came from sophomore
Michael Troup (Doylestown, Pa.), who finished third in the long jump with a mark of 6.83 meters. Sophomore high jumper
Ryan Tompkins (Farmingdale, N.J.) tied for a fourth place finish with a height of 1.98 meters, freshman
Peter Willis (St. Charles, Ill.) tying for eighth place in the high jump with a successful clearance at 1.93 meters. Junior
Thomas Conboy (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) placed sixth in the pole vault (4.56m) and sophomore
Vincent Sengelmann was seventh with a mark of 13.52 meters.
Senior thrower
Henry Sise (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) came in sixth in the shot put with a throw of 15.21 meters, while freshman
Jim Keys (Herndon, Va.) recorded an eighth place finish in the javelin with a time of 3:52.75.
