Villanova Set to Face Old Dominion Saturday

NORFOLK, Va. – Villanova women's lacrosse gears up for another BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday, Apr. 6. The Wildcats will travel to Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va. for a 1 p.m. competition at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

Headed into the competition Villanova holds a 7-5 overall record with a 1-0 record in the BIG EAST. Old Dominion welcomes the 'Cats with an overall record of 3-10 and a conference record of 0-1. This contest will mark the first all-time series matchup between the two opponents. Old Dominion enters the BIG EAST Conference for their first year after departing from the ASUN Conference.  

Villanova
Over the last few games, the Wildcats' team leaders have been making a shift. Liz Trojan and Devin Hassinger are at the top with 21 goals apiece. Sophomore attack Brittany Bruno sits behind by one with 20 goals after recording nine in the last two contests.

Katie Comerford and Ashley Lynch still hold the reigns in the points and assists column. Comerford has a team high 21 assists and 33 points while Lynch has 20 assists and 32 points.

Hassinger and Grainger Rosati are the denominators in the amount of draw controls won for Villanova. The redshirt senior broke her 2018 season high 81 draw controls by recording 84 for this season, while Rosati has tallied 40 of her own.

Sydney Frank continues to bring strength to the Wildcats defense. The freshman has caused 22 turnovers and has picked up 18 ground balls. Hassinger and Rosati have also helped keep teams off their game by causing a combined 26 caused turnovers.

Alexa Moro stands in the goal for Villanova and has recorded 108 saves on 298 shots faced this season. Moro has hovered around a save percentage of .466 for the season.

Old Dominion
The Monarchs have scored a total of 101 goals in 13 games this season. Glory Johnson leads the group with 37 goals and four assists for 41 points. Sophia Richie and Lilly Siskind are next on the leaderboards in goals, assists and points. Richie has 20 goals and two assists for 22 points and leads the team with 24 draw controls. Siskind has scored 10 goals and dished out 11 assists for 21 points.

Leading the team in caused turnovers is Alyssa Sebesto who has tallied 22 and Mary K Maloney who has caused 20 turnovers. Maloney also leads the team with 23 ground balls and Sebesto Is one behind with 22 GB.

Old Dominion has played three goalies this year, primarily relying on Haleigh Wurzel who has played in 12 games, has recorded 115 of her team's 130 saves and has a save percentage of .417.

Looking Forward
The Wildcats will take a week off before returning home on Saturday, Apr. 13 when they host Georgetown at 1 p.m. for Alumni Day.
