Final Stats

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Temple scored the game's last three goals over the final 17:23 to rally to a 12-11 victory over Villanova (6-7 overall) in a women's lacrosse game played in a steady rain at Villanova Stadium tonight. Alison Incarnato scored the game-winner with 5:38 to go in regulation off a pass from Chelsea Rosiek. Villanova's late bid to knot the contest on a free position attempt with 19 seconds left was thwarted when the shot of sophomore Rachel Lasda ricocheted off the crossbar.

The loss snapped the Wildcats' five game winning streak. Temple improved to 2-11 on the campaign.

The Owls responded with three unanswered goals after junior Erica Rybinski opened the scoring for the `Cats at 27:41 of the first half. Jacqueline Mercer, Ann Stouffer and Brittany Hoffman all scored for the Owls in a span of just over four minutes.

A pair of unassisted goals from Lasda spurred a Villanova surge over the next 17 minutes, however. Three goals from Taryn McKenna and additional scores from Carly Miller and Taylor Lucy helped the Wildcats build an 8-4 edge with 3:31 remaining in the first half. But Temple got the last two goals of the period to narrow their gap to 8-6 at the break.

Stouffer scored off a pass from Rosiek - one of her five assists on the evening to go with four goals - to draw the Owls within 8-7, 58 seconds into the half. But Rybinski gave VU some space with two scores before Rosiek and Lindsey Colferai brought TU to within 10-9. Miller then took a pass from Samantha McKillip to make it 11-9 in favor of the `Cats with 21:22 left on the second period clock. But that would prove to be Villanova's final goal of the night.

Rosiek scored unassisted goals at 17:23 and 9:06 to knot matters at 11. Then the Owls capitalized on a failed clearing attempt, with Rosiek intercepting a pass and feeding it to open Incarnato in front of the Villanova net.

Lasda nearly tied the game in the final seconds after an outstanding move into the scoring area created a free position chance. But her shot caught the crossbar and caromed high into the air in front of the net. A foul was called on the `Cats in the ensuing scrum, giving Temple possession and the Owls ran out the remaining time from there.

Rybinski and McKenna led Villanova with three goals apiece while Miller and Lasda each netted a pair of goals. Sophomore Maggie Langan made 10 saves in net for the Wildcats. VU returns to its home turf on Friday to host Longwood at 6:00 p.m.
