VILLANOVA, Pa. - Corinne Drost netted five goals and Casey McCrudden added four more for Delaware to lead the Blue Hens to a 20-10 victory over Villanova here on Senior Night at Villanova Stadium. The win lifts Delaware's record to 11-5 while the Wildcats, who honored Nikki Bell, Amanda Carlson, Laura Garrett, Lauren Latchford and Stevie McFadden in halftime ceremonies, to 4-13.
Delaware got the early jump on the `Cats with two goals on free position shots in the first five minutes. Julianna Jeffers and Emily Schaknowski scored those goals. The Blue Hens then picked up scores from Drost, McCrudden and Holly Burman to build a 5-0 lead at 21:54 of the first half.
McFadden picked up her 47th career goal off a feed from Rachel Lasda at 20:50 for the Wildcats' first score of the evening. Morgan Marino answered with a pair of goals for Delaware before Katie Stone picked up a Villanova goal at 17:57 on a free position shot.
The Blue Hens added four more scores before Samantha McKillip got one back for Villanova at 1:31. Drost scored once more before halftime to make it 12-3 at halftime.
After saluting its class of 2008 during the break, the Wildcats came out strong. Taryn McKenna and McFadden cut the gap to 12-5 before Drost scored again for the Blue Hens. Stone picked up a pair of unassisted goals to make it 13-7.
Later in the half the Wildcats picked up three straight goals from Lasda, McKenna and Kyle O'Shea to draw within 15-10 with 9:54 left. However, Delaware closed the contest out with five goals to make the final tally 20-10.
Latchford made a career-high 13 saves in goal for the Wildcats while Jessica Cerveny stopped 12 shots in picking up the win in net for the Blue Hens.
This contest concluded Villanova's season.
