Lewisburg, Pa. - Senior Amy Rocap (Vienna, Va.) tallied four goals to spark Villanova to a 9-8 win at Bucknell on Saturday afternoon. The Bison fell to 4-9, 2-2 in the Patriot League. Villanova got its first win of the season to move to 1-10, 1-4 in PL play. The loss snapped Bucknell's five game home win-streak, and was the first home loss of the season.
Paraud put the Bison out to an early lead scoring to quick goals at 24:17 and 23:24. Villanova's Amy Rocap single handedly brought the Wildcats back in the game scoring three goals in three minutes, giving her squad the 3-2 lead.
By the 5:00 mark of the first half, Bucknell had charged back to a 5-3 lead with Elizabeth Whipple hitting the back of the net at 18:48, off a pass from Paraud. Lauren Deitrich then scored at the 16:05 mark with an assist from senior Amy Lee. Burman got passed the Villanova defense with an unassisted goal at 11:40.
The Wildcats would answer with a goal from Bess Hanley, making the score 5-4 going into the break. The Wildcats kept the momentum in the second half as Kathleen Kelly and Becky Gardner scored two quick goals to start the frame, putting Villanova back on top at 6-5.
Burman got her second goal of the game at the 23:20 mark, scoring on a pass from Lee. The Wildcats came back the next three goals from the sticks of Gardner, Rocap, and Christina Bahrs, making the score 9-6. Jess Brozena and Lauren Latchford combined to make four saves in the Villanova net.
The Bison made a late charge, scoring two more goals. Lauren Kremer netted a score on a Paraud assist with 15:16 to go in the game. Katie Edge would score the final Bison goal at 9:10, with an assist from Burman, bringing the score to the final tally of 9-8. Goalie Lizzy McDaniel played all 60 minutes for the Bison, saving 11 Wildcats shots.
