CHESNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Villanova Wildcats dropped an 11-9 decision to the Boston College Eagles in a women's lacrosse match played Sunday afternoon. Freshman Rachel Bausch scored four goals for the winners.
Meghan Carolan enjoyed a huge day for the Wildcats, scoring four goals. The sophomore opened the scoring two minutes into the game. But Boston College scored the next four goals and eventually built a 7-4 lead at halftime.
Senior Julie Feddeman opened the scoring in the second half to cut the deficit to 7-5. But a Lauren Miller goal made it 8-5in favor of Boston College. Junior Sarah DePeters cut the lead to 8-6 but a pair of goals from Chrisse DeMichele gave the Eagles a 10-6 advantage and they held off the 'Cats down the stretch for the win.
DePeters ended the day with two goals while classmate Cecily Pierce also scored two goals. Freshman Brandy Grenier made eight saves in net for the 'Cats.
Villanova (2-5 overall, 1-1 Patriot League) returns home to face Lehigh on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
