Alex Chismar joined Villanova Athletics in the summer of 2026 with extensive experience in collegiate athletic training and sports medicine across both Division I and Division III programs. In this role, she will provide medical coverage and support for the softball and women’s swimming and diving programs.Â
Prior to Villanova, Chismar served as an Athletic Trainer at Carnegie Mellon University, supporting men’s soccer, swimming and diving and softball student-athletes competing in the University Athletic Association (UAA). During her time at Carnegie Mellon, the men’s soccer program earned an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022, while the swimming and diving program produced national champions and numerous All-Americans.
Chismar began her athletic training career at Saint Francis University during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting Division I student-athletes through a uniquely challenging period in collegiate athletics while providing care across women’s soccer, women’s swimming, men’s volleyball, field hockey and women’s lacrosse in the Northeast Conference (NEC). She also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician with UPMC McKeesport, gaining experience in emergency response and acute patient care.Â
Chismar earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020 and later completed a Master of Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Psychology from California University of Pennsylvania. In addition to collegiate athletics, she has assisted with sports medicine coverage for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s annual Nutcracker production and would like to become fluent in Spanish.Â
A Pittsburgh native, Chismar enjoys watching the Pittsburgh Steelers with her family and friends, learning about plants and spending time with her orange cat, Miller.Â
