Biography

2019: As a senior, Gonsalves appeared in nine games and made three starts. In the net, she recorded 12 saves on 61 shots faced. She recorded a season high five saves against Denver (4/26). Gonsalves ended her career with 66 total saves on 209 shots faced and posted a .405 overall save percentage.

2018: Appeared in seven contests and made four starts while in goal for the Wildcats during her junior year. She recorded a total of 40 saves on 103 shots faced and she ended the season with a .488 save percentage. In the team's 14-8 loss against Denver (4/13) she recorded a season high 14 saves. 

2017: Saw action in the net during six games and played a total of 131 minutes. She recorded a total of 14 saves.

2016: Made appearances against Albany (3/13) and Marquette (4/2)… Combined for six saves and a .500 save percentage in 22 minutes of action.

WARD MELVILLE: Started all 16 league games and both non-league games during her senior season, was co-captain, and finished her senior year with a 72% clear success, 9 ground balls, and 146 saves. Was on the Varsity Field Hockey team for two years and was pulled up to the Varsity Lacrosse team as a sophomore during the post season. Sophomore year was a Brine Lacrosse All-American. Senior year appeared in the Newsday paper for stellar performance against division 1 rival Smithtown West. Member of the Italian Honor Society for exceptional grades, received the Excellence in Regents History award for her exemplary grades and leadership in the classroom and received The Long Island Metropolitan Foundation Unsung Hero Award and All-Tournament award by The Suffolk County Coaches Association and was awarded the Leadership, Spirit, and Cooperation award from her High School Athletic Department during her senior year. Also was a four time recipient of the NYSPHSAA scholar athlete award. Rejoining Ward Melville Alumni Sam Scarfogliero who is currently a Junior on the Villanova lacrosse team.

PERSONAL: Birthday is November 29th, 1997. From Stony Brook, New York. Parents are Arthur and Theresa Gonsalves, has one brother, Nicholas, and two sisters, Diana and Sophia. Enrolled in the Villanova College of Engineering. Decided to come to Villanova for its great academic and athletic reputation as well as the incredible coaching staff.
