Biography

Career: Over her four seasons, Mentzer was a vital part of the Villanova defense, recording 42 starts over 50 games played. For her career, the Landenberg native recorded 26 draw controls, 29 caused turnovers, and 62 ground balls. Mentzer was named to the IWCLA Academic Honor Roll in her senior season, recognizing her hard work off the field. 

2021: In her senior season, Mentzer started all 17 games for the Wildcats at defense. For the season, she totaled 13 draw controls, 24 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Mentzer was named to the IWCLA Academic Honor Roll for the 2021 season. 

2020: Mentzer started all eight games for Villanova in her junior season. She picked up eight ground balls, caused four turnovers and won one draw control.

2019: In her second year as a Wildcat, Mentzer competed in all 18 games and made 15 starts. While on defense she picked up 24 ground balls, caused 12 turnovers and won one draw control. Mentzer’s 12 caused turnovers placed her in a three-way tie for fourth on the team. She recorded a season high three caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls in a 17-5 win over Holy Cross (3/6).

2018: As a freshman, Mentzer appeared in 15 games and made one start. As a defender, she collected six ground balls, caused six turnovers and recorded one draw control. 

Kennett High School:4 varsity letters in lacrosse, indoor winter track and outdoor spring track. 3 varsity letters in cross country. Captain of lacrosse and field hockey her senior year. Member of the National Honor Society junior and senior year. Awards for lacrosse include 1st team all-league senior year, 2nd team all-area senior year, coach's MVP senior year, honorable mention all-area junior year, leadership award junior year. 100 goal scorer, National Pennsylvania Brine Lacrosse team 2016 champion. Earned honorable mention all-league in field hockey junior year. For indoor/winter track, holds spring medley relay, distance medley relay, 4x800m relay and open 1000m, records for her high school. For Outdoor/Spring track, holds 4x600m relay and 4x400m relay records at her high school.

Personal: Daughter of Lisa and Mark Mentzer. Has two sisters, Mackenzie (21), junior at University of Kentucky, Sydney (16) and a brother, Jacob (14). Enjoys skiing, running 5k and half marathons and traveling. Chose Villanova for it's prestigious academics and to continue her athletic career in lacrosse. The overall team morale and coaching staff highlighted her interest in this school and program.
