Women's Basketball Hosts Marquette Sunday for Senior Day

The Villanova Wildcats will close out home portion of the 2025-26 regular season on Sunday afternoon when they play host to the Marquette Golden Eagles. Villanova enters play with a 21-6 overall record and a 14-4 BIG EAST mark, while Marquette is 17-10 on the year and 10-7 in league action. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.

Sunday's game between Villanova and Marquette will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools.  In the first meeting in Milwaukee on Jan. 4, the Golden Eagles recorded an 85-69 win. Jasmine Bascoe led the Wildcats in the loss with 20 points, while freshman Kennedy Henry had 15 points. Dani Ceseretti was the third Wildcat in double figures with a career-high 12 points to go with five rebounds and four assists. Marquette was paced by Halle Vice who had a career-high 32 points to go with 11 rebounds. Skylar Forbes and Jaidynn Mason had 20 points each. For the game, Villanova was 29-of-59 form the field (49.2%), 6-of-22 from three-point range (27.3%) and 5-of-5 from the foul line (100.0%0, while Marquette shot 51.7 percent from the floor (31-of-60), 61.1 percent from long distance (11-of-18) and 70.6 percent from the charity stripe (12-of-17).  The Golden Eagles owned a 36-26 advantage on the backboards. 

With Sunday afternoon being the final home game of the 2025-26 regular season, the Villanova Women's basketball program will celebrate Senior Day prior to the game. Nine members of the program will be honored in a pregame ceremony, including five players and four student managers. The five players being honored are Ryanne Allen, Denae Carter, Maggie Grant, Kylee Watson and Annie Welde. The four senior managers are Alexander Albrecht, Sarah Augustine, Olivia Barry, and Kolby McGowan.

By virtue of last Sunday's win at Creighton, Villanova improved to 14-3 in the conference standings (14-4 after loss to UConn on Wednesday) and clinched a Top 3 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament. The Wildcats currently have a one game lead in the loss column over Seton Hall and a three-game lead over Marquette.

Carter was outstanding in Wednesday's game against Connecticut. Carter scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including a 3-of-3 effort from three-point range to go with three steals, three blocks and two rebounds. Carter has six three-point field goals for her career with three coming in Wednesday's game.

Sophomore guard Jasmine Bascoe was all over the stat sheet in Wednesday's loss to Connecticut. Bascoe played all 40 minutes and tallied 26 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals. This was her 12th, 20-point game of the season and the 20th of her career.
