PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Villanova University women's tennis team fell to Penn, 4-0, on Monday, January 19, at the Hamlin/Hecht Tennis Courts.
The match began with a competitive doubles point, as both teams battled closely. Ultimately, the Quakers claimed the early advantage by securing victories on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts.
Penn carried that momentum into singles play. At No. 1 singles, Velaga edged
Olivia Corcoran in a closely contested straight-sets match. On court two, Stojanovski defeated
Maggie Gehrig in another tight two-set battle. The match was clinched when Saw earned a win over Monti on the No. 5 court.
Up Next: The Wildcats will head to West Point, N.Y., for a doubleheader on Saturday, January 24, facing Sacred Heart at 11 a.m. followed by Army at 5 p.m.
