NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Villanova women's lacrosse followed up a record-setting season on the field with a number of academic awards, earning a slew of IWLCA honors on Wednesday afternoon.
As a team, the Wildcats were named an Academic Honor Squad for maintaining above a 3.2 grade point average for the 2024-25 academic year. It's the 16th time overall that Villanova has earned the team honor from the IWLCA and the 10th year in a row (excluding the 2019-20 academic year when these awards were not given out).
Individually, 12 'Cats earned mention on the Division I Academic Honor Roll: Sami Carey, Cate Gallagher, Gabriella Henson-Vendrell, Isabella Henson-Vendrell, Lindsay Kupka, Meghan Lowe, Quinn McKiernan, Kate Montalto, Sydney Pappas, Megan Reilly, Georgia Sobocinski and Juliet Walls.
Each of those dozen players maintained a cumulative GPA greater than a 3.50, and only student-athletes in their junior year or higher were eligible. VU has now placed double digit players on the list in each of the last three years.
The academic accolades come after Villanova's first ever appearance in the BIG EAST title game and a league-high eight selections to the 2025 all-conference squad.
