CHESTER, Pa.—Villanova had seven athletes in competition on the second day of the Paul Donahue Invitational which wrapped up at George A. Hansell Track on Saturday afternoon. Strong performances by a quartet of 200 meter and 400 meter runners highlighted the day.
Freshman sprinter
Ethan Walls (Ridgefield, Conn.) and sophomore
Ronan O'Neill (Wilmette, Ill.) reach recorded personal best times in the 400 meters. Walls posted a time of 49.29 to finish 10
th out of more than 100 competitors while O'Neill was 13
th with a time of 49.63. They were followed by sophomore
Sal Barretta (Whitestone, N.Y.) and senior
William Seijas (Shrewsbury, N.J.) who registered times of 49.74 and 50.74, respectively.
In the 200 meters, it was O'Neill who led the quartet with a time of 22.75. Less than one tenth of a second separated the Villanova runners as O'Neill was followed by Seijas in 22.77, Walls with a time of 22.78 and Barretta crossing the line in 22.83. One other sprint was on Saturday's schedule and it featured freshman
Derrick Smith (New Orleans, La.) who recorded a time of 11.24 in the 100 meters.
Senior middle distance runner
Chris Weeks (Virginia Beach, Va.) registered a season best time of 1:58.74 in the open section of the 800 meters and sophomore
Sanjay Persaud (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) measured a distance of 5.89 meters in the long jump.
