CHESTER, Pa.—Fifth year middle distance runner
Jamie Moreland (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished third in the elite section of the 800 meters at the Paul Donahue Invitational on Friday night. Moreland was the lone Villanova athlete in competition on the first of two days of competition in the local meet held at George A. Hansell Track on the Widener campus.
In a race that featured several runners from Penn along with Moreland and a number of unattached competitors, Moreland's time of 1:49.76 was the second-fastest time of his career and put him third out of 19 runners overall. He previously set his PR of 1:49.10 in the 800 meters in the same venue last year when he raced in the Widener Final Qualifier on May 15, 2023.
Villanova continues competition beginning at 10 a.m. with men's long jump on Saturday morning while the first track event of the day is the 400 meters at 11:50 a.m.
