PRINCETON, N.J.—Sixth year distance runner
Jack Fredian (Arlington Heights, Ill.) tallied the second-fastest time of his career in the 5000 meters during the Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Stadium on Friday night. Fredian was one of three Villanova athletes in action on the first of two days of competition in the meet. Fifth year collegians
Ryan Kredell (Geneva, Ill.) and
Jamie Moreland (Los Angeles, Calif.) also ran on Friday in the 5K and the 800 meters, respectively.
Fredian crossed the finish line in 14:12.01 to finish fourth in the seeded section of the 5K. The only faster time he has recorded during his collegiate career came on April 16, 2021 when Fredian was clocked in 14:10.21 at the Virginia Challenge. He had opened up his outdoor season two weeks ago with a 1500 meter race at Princeton. Kredell ran in the same section of the 5K as Fredian on Friday night and posted a time of 14:42.20.
Earlier in the night, Moreland competed in the elite section of the 800 meters and placed 10
th overall in 1:50.46.
First up on Saturday's event schedule at Princeton is men's shot put at 11 a.m. followed by the 4x100 meter relay on the track at 12:10 p.m.
