ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Villanova (2-2) was defeated by No. 17 Navy 18-9 on Saturday afternoon. Junior attacker Sydney Pappas became the tenth Wildcat ever to score 100 goals in a career and the first to reach the milestone in her junior season.

Navy (4-0) jumped out to a 7-2 lead after the first quarter and led 10-3 at halftime as Pappas and Rose Christie scored for the 'Cats. Tori DiCarlo scored seven goals to lead the Midshipmen and Emily Messinese supplied five goals and an assist.

Villanova was impressive in the third quarter as they scored three unanswered goals to cut the Midshipmen lead to four. Katie Giordano, Sami Carey and Pappas supplied the assisted finishes. Navy was able to pull away in the fourth quarter and remain undefeated on the season.

For the 'Cats, Pappas recorded her third hat trick on the young season and Carey has recorded multiple points in all four games so far. Mary Moore recorded her first career assist and freshman goalie Makenzie Fisher recorded five saves in the loss.

Villanova returns to action Wednesday, February 28 for a midweek matchup against Saint Joseph's. The Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
