VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's swimming and diving team get their first lose of the season to Penn. The Wildcats finished with 24 top-three finishes and a score of 128-167.
There were highlight performance from the Wildcat relays, five of which placed top-three. Starting off the meet was relay team A,
Arabella Lee, Carlota Colomer,
Alyssa McHale and
Riley Kudlac (1:45.56), grabbed second in the 200 medley. Shortly behind them was Team B clocking a time of 1:46.36 with efforts from
Anna Farley,
Winnie Jalet,
Martina Lonati and
Lainey Quinones.
Ending the meet the 'Cats had a sweep from all relays. The quartet of Colomer, Quinones,
Lexi Elkovitch and Lonati gave team A the first place slot in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:38.37. The B team of
Amylia Higgins, Jalet, Sasha Schratwiesser and
Katie White placed second finishing with a time of 1:39.65. Taking third was team C, McHale,
Kathryn Montefusco,
Riley Hull and
Pepper Ritchey, with their time of 1:41.43.
In addition to her efforts in the relays, White was able to grab first in the 200 fly touching the wall at 2:02.28. Farley was able to follow closely behind with a time of 2:04.17 helping her achieve third. In the 500 free, White raced to take third (5:06.21) behind Lonati who took second (5:04.68).
Farley was able to keep momentum and lead a sweep in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.39. Her teammate
Peri Gaguzis was next in line at second clocking 4:31.56 and
Meghan Tiernan took third with a time of 4:31.68.
Jalet was able to out swim everyone in the 100 breast, touching the wall at 1:05.11 with Colomer right behind her in second clocking 1:05.40. Kudlac took second in the 200 free with her time of 1:53.21.
Representing the 'Cats in the 50 free was Quinones finishing second with a time of 24.32 and Elkovitch right behind her at 24.47.
Finishing first in the 100 fly by just .18, is Lee touching the wall at 56.25 beating Margaret Hu of Penn.

Katie Vaughan and
Michelle Kasulka we able to achieve second and third in the 3-meter dive. Vaughan totaled 241.43 points while Kasulka totaled 237.90.
The Wildcats are back in the pool as they travel to La Salle with the men's team on Friday.
