CHESTER, Pa.—The trio of freshman
Luke Rakowitz (Dallas, Texas), freshman
Ronan O'Neill (Wilmette, Ill.) and junior
William Seijas (Shrewsbury, N.J.) combined for five personal best marks in the 200 meters and the 400 meters during competition at the Widener Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Each of the three runners posted new top marks in the 400 meters at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
It was the 400 meters that was first up on the afternoon and Rakowitz led the three Villanova athletes with a time of 48.88, good for second in his heat and fifth overall out of 73 runners. It is the first time in three races during the outdoor season that Rakowitz has come in under 49 seconds. O'Neill posted a PR of 49.64 to win his heat and finish 12
th overall, while Seijas was second in his section with a time of 50.37. It is the second time this outdoor season that Seijas has lowered his PR in the 400 meters; his previous time of 50.90 had been set during the Big 5 Invitational at Penn earlier this month.
The three Wildcats finished in the same order in the 200 meters, with Rakowitz posting a personal best time of 22.68. He came in second in his heat and Seijas was third in the same section with a new PR of 22.77. O'Neill posted a time of 22.76 and placed fourth in an earlier heat.
Villanova will be in action this week at the Penn Relays.
