Williamsburg, Va. - The Villanova golf team currently sits tied for seventh place at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, after play was suspended due to lack of daylight Monday evening. The Wildcats were able to complete all of their holes, shooting 300 in round one and 301 in round two, at 33-over par.
Sophomore
Peter Weaver holds the best score for Villanova after two rounds, shooting even (67-75, 142), tying for first place. The Frontenac, Missouri native tallied four birdies in round one, shooting 4-under par. Weaver is tied with Georgetown's William O'Neill who also shot 142, after rounds of 66 and 76.
Graduate student
Matthew Copeland sits tied for ninth place at 3-over par (74-73, 147), holding the second best score for the 'Cats. After two rounds, Copeland has five birdies. Senior
Noah Peck shot 156 (79-77), placing him tied for 37th in Williamsburg. Competing as an individual,
Matt Davis carded an 18-over par after day one. After shooting 81 and 79, Davis has the third most birdies after two rounds, totaling six. Rounding out the Villanova lineup were junior
Luke Alexander (t-55th, 86-76) who shot 162 and freshman
Vimal Alokam (63rd, 80-87) who carded a 167.
Only four of the 15 competing institutions were able to complete the first to rounds.
After play was suspended Monday evening, Longwood sits atop the leaderboard at 15-over par, with the majority of round two to play. Georgetown sits in second place, after finishing both rounds, at 22-over par. In third, Towson shot 24-over par as a team, with two golfers inside the top 10.
