HAVERFORD, Pa.—Villanova had nine runners competing in the Haverford Invitational on Friday afternoon and the contingent was led by
Patrick Craemer (Upton, Mass.) who came in second out of 42 runners with a time of 20:04.9 on the four-mile Alumni Course on the Haverford College campus. Craemer led six Wildcats who were among the top seven finishers in the local race, which was won by freshman
Devon Comber (Ambler, Pa.) who was competing as an unattached runner in the meet.
The first five finishers officially in the Villanova lineup included Craemer along with
Sean Dolan (Pennington, N.J.),
Cole Walker (Chadds Ford, Pa.),
Ben Seiple (Westport, Conn.) and
Chris Weeks (Springfield, Va.). Dolan covered the four-mile course in 20:09.6 and was just ahead of Walker (20:10.7), with Seiple (20:18.7) and Weeks (20:25.9) following. Runners from the Wildcats, Haverford, Saint Joseph's and Widener made up the field of competitors for the meet.
Comber is a freshman member of the Villanova roster but is competing unattached during the cross country season. He won Friday's race in 19:27.6 and cut nearly 30 seconds off the time he ran on the same course in a similar unattached race earlier this year.
The rest of the Wildcats contingent of runners at the Haverford meet included
Miller Anderson (West Hartford, Conn.),
Trevor Potts (Sparta, N.J.),
Jacob Bonanotte (Barrington, Ill.) and
Nick Ackerman (Manalapan, N.J.). Anderson finished seventh with a time of 20:29.0, while Potts came in 15
th (21:35.3), Bonanotte finished 17
th (21:40.6) and Ackerman was 19
th (21:46.7).
Villanova is in the midst of preparations for the BIG EAST Championships which take place next Friday, October 29, at Northview Church in Carmel, Ind.
