PROVIDENCE, RI- Villanova was unable to gain the upper hand against Providence in a three-set loss Friday night. With the loss, Villanova drops to 12-9 (4-5 BIG EAST) while Providence improves to 14-8 (2-7 BIG EAST)
The Friars began to break away early in the first set. Leading 9-6, Providence went on a 5-0 run to lead 14-6. The lead ballooned up to 20-9 but Villanova still had some gas left in the tank. The Wildcats went on a 7-0 run including a pair of
Riley Homer kills to cut the deficit to 20-16. Villanova reached within two to set the score at 22-20 but the Friars executed with a 3-1 run to take the first set, 25-21.
The second set was a true back-and-forth affair between Villanova and Providence. Leading 19-18 late in the set, Providence went on a 4-0 run to lead 23-18. Villanova was able to chip in two more points but Providence took the second set, 25-20.
The Friars had a major 7-0 run in the third set to set the tone with a 14-8 lead. The Wildcats were able to cut the deficit to 22-17 but couldn't were unable to complete the comeback as Providence took the third set, 25-19, and the match.

Rose Crist led the team with 11 kills, her fourth-consecutive double-digit kill performance.
Kiera Booth recorded four total blocks against Providence.
Belle Morgan led the team with 31 assists and
Averi Salvador tallied 16 digs.
