PRINCETON, N.J.—Four members of the Villanova throwing group competed at Princeton Invitational on Sunday morning and had success in the shot put and the weight throw. The meet at Jadwin Gym was the final competition for the Wildcats before the BIG EAST Championships which get underway this weekend.
The senior duo of
Jadyn Anczarski (Ringtown, Pa.) and
Chika Nwachukwu (Lawrence, N.J.) each extended their personal bests in the weight throw. Anczarski, who already ranks fourth in school history in the event, threw for a distance of 16.71 meters to eclipse his previous top mark of 16.33 meters which was recorded at last year's BIG EAST meet. He also established a new lifetime best with a measurement of 13.47 meters in the shot put.
Nwachukwu became the ninth Villanova athlete to throw for at least 15 meters. He recorded a mark of 15.03 meters to move into ninth place on the Wildcats all-time performance list and improve on his previous personal best by more than one meter. He had previously thrown for 13.98 meters at the BIG EAST Championships last season.
Junior
Billy Loewen (Sparta, N.J.) competed in both the shot put and the weight throw at the Princeton meet. He led the Villanova contingent with a mark of 14.76 meters in the shot put to finish in sixth place in the event, and also had a mark of 14.81 meters in the weight throw. Freshman
