Member of the Villanova throwing group from the 2019-20 through 2021-22 seasons … Competed in two indoor and two outdoor campaigns … Five-time individual BIG EAST scorer, including four times in the shot put and once in the weight throw … Part of a BIG EAST team title at the 2020 indoor conference championships … Was the team’s top finisher in the shot put at the 2021 outdoor BIG EAST meet … In addition to his success in competition was a three-time selection to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and a six-time member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

INDOOR

2022: Competed four times in the shot put during the year and scored in the event at the BIG EAST Championships; Penn 10-Team Select (1/15): Began the season by finishing 11^th in the shot put with a throw of 13.24 meters; Villanova Invitational (1/22): Posted a season-best mark of 13.58 meters in the shot put at the Wildcats home meet and notched a seventh place finish; Rutgers Open (2/12): Placed 10^th in the college section of the shot put (13.22m); BIG EAST Championships (2/26): Scored in the shot put at the conference meet where he placed seventh with a throw of 13.46 meters.

2020: Competed at four meets during the year and helped Villanova win its third straight BIG EAST team title by scoring in the shot put and the weight throw; Wesley A. Brown Invitational (1/18): Recorded a distance of 13.04 meters in the shot put in his collegiate debut at Navy; Villanova Invitational (2/1): Recorded marks of 13.03 meters in the shot put and 11.74 meters in the weight throw at the Wildcats home meet; Princeton Invitational (2/23): Came in ninth in the shot put with a throw of 13.04 meters and placed seventh in the weight throw at Princeton with a mark of 10.78 meters; BIG EAST Championships (3/1-3/2): Tallied season and personal best marks in both the shot put and the weight throw at the conference meet ... Part of a quartet of throwers whose contributions helped make the difference in Villanova winning the BIG EAST title ... Came in eighth in the weight throw on the first day of the meet with a throw of 12.11 meters ... Moved up two spots to finish sixth in the shot put with a mark of 13.56 meters the next day. 
 

OUTDOOR

 
2022: Competed three times in the shot put and twice in the discus during the season … Scored in the shot put and registered a lifetime best mark at the BIG EAST Championships; Penn Challenge (3/19): Came in eighth in the shot put at the outdoor season opener with a throw of 14.00 meters; Philadelphia Big 5 Meet (4/2): Runner-up in the discus with a mark of 36.19 meters and finished third in the shot put with a throw of 13.60 meters at Penn; BIG EAST Championships (5/13-5/14): Tallied the best throw of his collegiate career in the shot put with a mark of 14.20 meters … That was good for a seventh place finish and two team points in the competition … Also came in 12^th in the discus with a season-best throw of 37.28 meters.

2021: Recorded personal best marks in the shot put, the discus and the hammer during a strong season of competition … Was the team’s top finisher in the shot put at the BIG EAST Championships … Competed at a total of seven meets during the season; Villanova Opener (3/19): Competed for the first time since the 2020 indoor season in the outdoor opener held on a frigid day at Villanova … Posted a third place finish in the hammer with a throw of 39.65 meters; Penn Challenge (3/27): Extended his personal best in the hammer to a mark of 41.95 meters and finished sixth in the meet at Penn; Philadelphia Big 5 Meet (4/3): For the first of two successive meets competed in the shot put, the discus and the hammer in a busy day of competition … Runner-up in the shot put with a measurement of 12.24 meters, came in third in the discus with a throw of 34.65 meters and was fourth in the hammer with a mark of 40.39 meters; Quaker Invite (4/17): Placed second in the hammer (40.70m), third in the shot put (13.2m) and fourth in the discus (38.12m); Philadelphia Metropolitan Collegiate Invitational (4/24): Tallied a personal best mark of 38.92 meters in the discus while competing at Franklin Field during the traditional weekend of the Penn Relays … Finished ninth in the discus and seventh in the shot put (13.00m) at the meet; Penn Twilight (5/1): In his final tune-up before the BIG EAST Championships came in third in the shot put with a mark of 13.50 meters and fourth in the hammer with a throw of 40.93 meters; BIG EAST Championships (5/15): Scored in the shot put at the conference meet, finishing seventh overall and tallying the best mark of his collegiate career with a distance of 13.72 meters.
 

BEFORE VILLANOVA

 
Augusta Preparatory Day School: Earned a total of nine varsity letters in high school, including four each in track & field and football to go along with one in basketball … Two-time GISA AAA state champion in the shot put as a junior and a senior … Also won a state title in the discus as a senior … Won three region titles in the shot put (2017-19) and two in the discus (2018-19) … Named the CSRA Male Track Athlete of the Year as a senior and was the Augusta Prep Male Athlete of the Year … Two-time team MVP … Played on both the offensive and defensive lines on the football team and earned all-region honors … Football team captain … Inducted to the National Honor Society … Winner of the Scott Jaird Oliff Scholar-Athlete Award … Earned a total of seven Special Honors academic awards during his scholastic career, including in foreign language, physical education and English (2015-16); mathematics and English (2016-17); and fine arts and physical education (2017-18).
 
Personal: Born 9/15/00 in Annapolis, Md. … Youngest of three children of Tomas Perez and Maria Carrera … Has two older siblings, Cristina and Tomas … Hobbies include playing football, basketball, kayaking and watching movies … Chose to attend Villanova for its academic rigor and the quality of the athletics program … Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences ...
