Trudy-Ann Williamson (Kingston, Jamaica) tallied her latest win in the 60 meter dash and Villanova continued its upward trajectory during the 2020 indoor season with a successful day of competition in the FastTrack National Invitational at Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex.
Jones recorded a winning time of 8.57 in the final of the 60 meter hurdles and defended her position after ranking as the fastest qualifier for the final with a time of 8.58 in the preliminaries. She and Thomas each won their respective preliminary heats, with Thomas being clocked in 8.75 in her first race of the day before lowering that mark to 8.61 in the final. The pair rank as the top two performers in the BIG EAST in the 60 meter hurdles this season.
Another victory in the 60 meter dash was business as usual for Williamson, who has won 19 of her 24 collegiate races in the event including both preliminary and final rounds. She was the second-fastest qualifier for the final after running 7.54 in the preliminary heats, five-hundredths of a second behind professional Canadian runner Shaina Harrison. They swapped places in the final when Williamson notched the win in 7.41 to beat out Harrison (7.43) and the rest of the field.
Williamson's time of 7.41 in the final matches the fifth-fastest time in school history, a time that Williamson herself posted as a freshman in the Nittany Lion Challenge as a freshman three years ago. She is the school record holder in the 60 meters with a lifetime best of 7.37 and owns the 18 fastest times in the Wildcats record book for the event. After matching her record time of 7.37 last weekend at the Millrose Games, Williamson began this weekend tied for 37
