Wildcats Return Home for Villanova Classic

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova women's volleyball team return home for their home opener for the 2018 season. The Wildcats welcome the Utah Utes, the High Point Panthers and the Temple Owls to Jake Nevin Field House for the Villanova Classic. Every match will have live stats and will be livestreamed so fans can follow along with the action.

Head coach Josh Steinbach on this weekend's games, "We are excited to play at home, we've got a chance to play two really good teams in Jake Nevin Field House which is exactly where we would like to play them. Utah is coming off one of their best seasons ever and seems to be on track for another. High Point is another school that is used to winning a lot."

On Friday, Villanova hosts Utah at 7 p.m. in their home opener for the 2018 season. The Utes come into the match ranked No. 21 in the AVCA Top 25. This is the first ever meeting between the two schools and both teams enter the match with a record of 5-1. Utah was picked to finish eighth the PAC-12.

The Wildcats play the High Point Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. High Point enters the weekend 1-5 but two of the losses came against top 10 ranked opponents, No. 2 Texas and No. 8 Wisconsin. Last season the Panthers made the NCAA Tournament as an at-large bid.

Villanova concludes the weekend on Sunday at Temple at 1:00 p.m. The last meeting between the Owls and Wildcats was last season at Villanova with the Wildcats winning 3-1. Temple leads the series against Villanova 24-19.

Steinbach on the match against the Owls, "Sunday at Temple is obviously a huge match for us as we play a city rival. That match is always tough and we look forward to keeping that rivalry going."

Next up for the Wildcats is the Sugar Bowl Tournament in New Orleans next weekend. This will be the final non-conference weekend for the Villanova.
