Wildcats Take Down Dartmouth at Kristin Dickman Memorial

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Villanova women's volleyball team swept the Dartmouth Big Green 3-0 today on the campus of the United States Naval Academy in the Kristin Dickman Memorial.

Head coach Josh Steinbach on the victory, "It was a good team win for us. I was glad to take control early and maintain it through out. We'll have to continue to get better for Alabama tomorrow as they'll be one of the most physical teams we play."

Freshman right side hitter Sanaä Barnes led the Wildcats with 10 kills. It is her second game in a row with the most kills for Villanova and double-digit kills. Junior setter Emma Decker had 25 assists.

The Wildcats had an 8-2 advantage on service aces and 16-6 advantage on blocks against the Big Green. Villanova had 38 kills to Dartmouth's 30 kills.

It was back and forth to start the opening set. With the score tied at 8-8, Villanova went on a 10-0 run to give the Wildcats their largest lead in the set. Junior middle blocker Allie Olsonoski had four of her six blocks during this run, one solo and three assisted.

In the second set, Dartmouth would jump out to an early lead but the Wildcats would tie it up at seven. Once again Villanova went on a run to make the score 11-7, thanks to a 7-0 run. Senior middle blocker Amanda Pedersen-Henry had back to back service aces during the run. The Wildcats would continue to lead and go on to win the set 25-16.

The Big Green would win the opening point of the set, their only lead of the set. The Wildcats would increase their lead to 10-4. The largest lead of the third set for Villanova was 21-11. Dartmouth tried to rally back but came up just short losing the set 25-18.

Next up for Villanova is a double-header against Alabama (1:00 p.m.) and Navy (7:30 p.m.). The match against Navy can be live streamed online.
