Wildcats travel to St. John’s and Seton Hall this weekend

Wildcats currently in 5th place in BIG EAST trailing St. John's in 4th

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova women's volleyball team will head up north to faceoff at St. John's Red Storm and the Seton Hall Pirates this weekend. The Wildcats defeated both teams earlier this season in Jake Nevin Field House.

Head coach Josh Steinbach on the upcoming matches, "It's a big weekend for us. I think we are starting to play a little better and hopeful we can put together a couple good performances."

The Wildcats enter the weekend with a record of 11-10 and 4-5 in BIG EAST matches. Villanova is currently tied for fifth in the conference standings. Last weekend the Wildcats split their matches. On Friday they defeated Providence 3-1 and on Saturday fell to No. 10 Creighton 1-3.

The Red Storm are 16-8 and 5-4 and are in fourth place in the BIG EAST. Earlier this season Villanova defeated St. John's 3-2. The Wildcats took two of the first three sets. Villanova secured the victory by winning the fifth set 15-12. Junior setter Emma Decker had 45 assists and 17 digs.

Seton Hall has a record of 7-15 and 2-7 in conference matches. The Pirates are currently ninth in the BIG EAST. Villanova defeated Seton Hall 3-1 for their BIG EAST opener earlier this season. The Pirates won the first set 25-23 but the Wildcats took the next three sets to get the victory. Freshman outside hitter Clare Delaplane had a season-high 22 kills in the victory.

Both matches will be live streamed and will have live stats.
