Wildcats Swept by Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The visiting Wildcats committed 26 attack errors and hit .095 in a 3-0 loss to Georgetown (13-8, 1-2 BIG EAST) on Saturday evening from McDounough Gym. Villanova (4-13, 0-3 BE) fell by scores of 30-25, 30-26, 30-27.

In their eleventh consecutive match on the road, the Wildcats fell victim to 14.0 total blocks by the Hoyas, who improved to 24-12 all-time against Villanova. The Wildcats, meanwhile, tallied only 7.0 total blocks and 38 kills.

Freshman Kacy Sellers (Battle Creek, Mich.) and junior Celine Nguyen (Palos Verdes, Calif.) each had nine kills to lead Villanova, which also got eight kills from junior Dana Kabashima (Santa Monica, Calif.). Sellers added a team-high four blocks, while Nguyen produced eight digs. Junior Megan Bye (Englewood, Colo.) had a match-high 14 digs and sophomore setter Jen Lalli (Media, Pa.) dished out 29 assists.

Nearly half of Villanova's 78 points in the match came from Georgetown errors. The Hoyas made 37 total errors, including eight service errors, allowing the Wildcats to stay close in all three games. However, Villanova was unable to find a winning formula, and lost its seventh consecutive match.

The Wildcats, who have played 14 of their 17 matches this season on the road, return home to Nevin Fieldhouse to host Temple University on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast by Nick Mantegna and can be heard live via Yahoo audiocast from www.villanova.com.
