Villanova, PA - On Saturday, March 18, the Villanova Wildcat men's lacrosse team easily gave its best performance to date as they totally dominated Lehigh University. The Wildcats scored the game's opening six goals and held Lehigh scoreless for the first half to secure a 10-2 victory. Brian and Justin Marks each tallied three goals on the afternoon and Matt Wilk recorded ten saves to improve Villanova's record to 2-3 overall, while Lehigh falls to 1-4.

Villanova got things started exactly five minutes into the game when Brian Marks (Glenmoore, PA/Downingtown) connected off a beautiful feed from Michael Holloway (Malvern, PA/Malvern Prep). Brian's brother Justin Marks (Glenmoore, PA/Downingtown) followed in his brother's footsteps just 19 seconds later hammering home a pass from fellow attackman Andrew Bogle (Wilton, CT/Wilton). The two quick goals were the only scoring in the first quarter.

Leading 2-0, Villanova continued to dominate in the second quarter. After holding the Mountain Hawks to only three shots in the game's opening quarter, the Wildcats nearly repeated that feat in the second stanza allowing only four shots. Despite having their offense stymied, Lehigh weathered the Villanova offense storm very well until Richie Kratz (Succasunna, NJ/Delbarton) snuck past a defender to tally the Wildcats third goal unassisted. With 5:33 remaining in the half, the Brian Marks and Holloway tandem reunited to tally their second goal and assist of the game. Villanova struck again just 34 seconds later when Randall Calvert (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) bounced a pass to Kratz right outside the top of the crease. Kratz turned and fired to tally his second goal of the game and increase Villanova's lead to 5-0. The Wildcats would get one more with 1:15 left in the second quarter when Justin Marks got his second goal of the game this time from David Cacciabeve (Boonton Township, NJ/Delbarton).

Villanova held Lehigh to seven first half shots, while creating 18 shots of their own. Matt Wilk (Bound Brook, NJ/Bridgewater-Rariatan) made three first half saves to keep Lehigh off the scoreboard. He was helped by stellar play from Owen Corso (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) and Brian O'Hagan (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) defensively.

In the second half, Lehigh responded to Villanova's challenge tallying their first goal at the 13:25 mark. Christian Castellani circled around the net and then cut in front, firing a top left corner shot that beat Wilk. Seeing their lead diminished to 6-1, Villanova answered with two more goals. Justin Marks tallied first unassisted at 9:14 and then Calvert got his first goal of the year exactly two minutes later on a feed from Scott MacMullan (Arnold, MD/Severn). Lehigh tallied their second and final goal with 18 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Castellani hit a cutting Gabe Osorio to cut the score to 8-2.

In the fourth quarter, Lehigh held the Wildcats in check until 5:24 when Calvert got his second goal of the season and second of the game on a pass from Brian Marks. Brian Marks then turned around less than a minute later and got his third goal and fourth point of the game from a nice feed of the stick of Timothy Ristau (Fayetteville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt). Brian Marks tally was the final goal of the game and it came at the 4:38 mark.
