Villanova Men's Lacrosse Stops St. Joseph's 13-3

April 15, 2000

Philadelphia, Pa. -Seniors Eric Dauer and Chris Larson each scored three goals to lead Villanova to a 13-3 win over St. Joseph's University in men's lacrosse action on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon.

SJU could never muster any offense as they scored a season low three goals. The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead going into the second period as they held the Hawks scoreless in the first period, the first time SJU has not scored in a single period all season. The Hawks did not score until the 11:58 mark of the second period on a goal from junior Randy McNeill cutting the Wildcat lead to 1-3. Villanova would find the back of the net once more to extend their lead 4-1 going into halftime.

Villanova opened the second half with two goals to extend their lead to 6-1. The Hawks finally ended their scoring drought at the 8:50 mark on a goal from sophomore Bert Whitelock, cutting the lead to 2-6, but the Wildcats scored seven straight goals to put the game away, taking a 13-2 lead.

Penalties killed SJU as Villanova capitalized five times in seven extra-man situations.

Sophomore Justin Marks added two goals for Villanova.

Villanova improves to 8-3 while SJU falls to 7-4. The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, April 19 at Notre Dame.
