Volleyball Drops Season Finale to Temple, 3-0

Villanova, Pa. - On Tuesday, November 14, the Villanova Wildcat volleyball team hosted Philadelphia-area rival Temple in their final match of the season. Entering the match, Villanova held an 11-15 advantage in head to head matches. Temple narrowed the gap to three with a 3-0 victory over the Wildcats. The final games scores were 9-15, 11-15, 5-15. With the loss Villanova ends their season with a 9-21 overall record and 2-9 Big East conference mark. The victory vaults Temple's record to 19-9 overall.

Leading the way for Villanova was senior middle blocker Breen Eddinger (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep). Eddinger posted nine kills, five digs and three total blocks on the evening. She was joined offensively by fellow seniors Ruth Ann Blankenheim (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons), Tina Zitterich (Ames, Iowa/Gilbert) and Lisa Trumbull (Rockford, Ill./Keith School). Blankenheim tallied seven kills, Zitterich added six and Trumbull recorded four. Assisting the seniors was freshman Jennifer Edwards (Valencia, Calif./Valencia) and Erin Pfotzer (Newark, Del./Christina). Edwards recorded 17 assists on the evening, while Pfotzer posted 5.

On the defensive side, Zitterich led the way as well, tallying 11 digs and five total blocks. Helping Zitterich was Edwards, Blankenheim and Eddinger. The trio recorded 17 digs on the afternoon, with Edwards and Blankenheim each getting six.
