Villanova, Pa. - On Saturday, November 11, the Villanova Wildcat volleyball team traveled to Washington, DC to take on Georgetown University in their final Big East conference match of the season. Georgetown made quick work of Villanova defeating them 3-0 in exactly an hour. The scores of the games were 5-15, 4-15 and 5-15. With the loss Villanova falls to 9-20 overall and 2-9 in the Big East, while Georgetown improves to 15-14 overall and 5-5 in the Big East.
Leading the way for Villanova was sophomore Katie Davis (North East, Md./North East) and senior Tina Zitterich (Ames, Iowa/Gilbert). The duo combined for 10 kills, four digs and four total blocks. Davis tallied 5 kills and four digs, while Zitterich posted 5 kills, two block solos and two block assists. Assisting the duo was freshman Jennifer Edwards (Valencia, Calif./Valencia). Edwards handed out 20 assists on the evening.
Kiran Gill and Ann Kleinsorge paced the Georgetown Hoyas attack. Gill and Kleinsorge posted a .817 and .700 hitting percentage, respectively. The tandem tallied 20 kills, with Gill crushing a match-high 13. They were assisted by freshman Jennifer Ward who tallied 35 assists in the match.
Villanova will be in action next on Tuesday, November 14, at home against Philadelphia area rival Temple.
