Baltimore, Md. - The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays proved to Villanova why they are ranked No. 3 in the nation as JHU defeated the Wildcats 16-5. All-American Matt O'Kelly led all scorers with four points on one goal and three assists. John McTigue's goal in the first quarter tied the contest at one and that was as close as the Wildcats would get as the Blue Jays went on a 10-1 run to give themselves a 11-2 lead at the half.
In the third, Eric Dauer's goal with 8:58 remaining brought the score to 12-3, but Johns Hopkins overpowered the Cats with three more scores to end fourth, 15-4. In the final period, Nova's defense held JHU scoreless in the last 10"03 and Mike Holloway netted the final goal of the game as Villanova dropped to 5-4 on the season with the loss.
Villanova was led by John McTigue who tallied a game-high three points on two goals and one assist. Between the pipes for the Cats, all three goalies show action as Matt Wilk led all with nine saves as the trio combined for 18 saves on the evening. Three Blue Jays, Dylan Schlott, Dan Denihan and Sol Kumin all recorded hat tricks in the victory. The Wildcats remain on the road as they travel to Connecticut to take on Fairfield on Saturday, April 10.
